Spiritual Rites of Passage

To support Christian faith development in an intentional manner, we have created age specific "rites of passage" to honor young people's spiritual growth. These opportunities are provided when there is interest among the age group. They include:

Practices in the Christian Home (Offered in the fall for parents of kindergareners/1st graders)

• Mealtime
• Bedtime
• Worshp & Relationship with the Church
• Art of Conversation
• Gift from Noelridge: Beginner's Children's Bible

Practices of the Christian Faith (Offered late fall for 2nd/3rd graders)

• Prayer - The Lord's Prayer
• Giving - Offering
• Serving
• Reading the Bible & Memorizing Scripture
• Practicing Holy Rest / Sabbath / Prioritizing God
• Attending Worship / Parts of Worship
• Fellowship with Christians / Friendship
• Gift from Noelridge: Children's Devotional

Pastor's Class / Preparation for Baptism & The Lord's Supper (Offered in winter/spring for 4th/5th graders or those ready to confess faith and be baptized.)

• Sereis of lessons related to Christian beliefs and one's relationship with God and the church.

Practices of Christian Morality (Offered after Easter for 6th/7th graders.)

• Truth
• Respect for God - God as source of morality.
• Respect of Self and Others

Practices of Christian Bible Reading (Offered either as a series in the spring or once a month in the fall For 8th/9th graders.)

• What is the Bible?
• How to read the Bible.
• Other ways to read the Bible.
• Gift from Noelridge: Either Comic Bible or Adult Bible

Older children or youth are welcome to join any of these when they are offered.
